I have a real passion for mountain bike racing and first raced in 1991. Over the last two (and a bit!) decades I have competed in over 320 races from grass roots racing to National Championships, World Cup support races and team endurance events. A highlight for me was being selected to ride for Great Britain at the 1998 World Championships in Mount saint Anne, Canada, where I finished 59th and came home 4th British finisher in the Masters category.
I’ve been a member of road and mtb clubs and have always taken an active role in promoting the sport and encouraging riders new to racing. I have held road race trophies for Dursley RC and currently hold the Gloucester City CC hill climb trophy.
As well as a love for pure cross country racing I’ve also competed in many team events including 24,12 and 6 hour races, road races, sportives and local 10 mile TT’s.
Having attended training camps overseas for road and mountain bikes, I’ve started to look for new challenges abroad and competed in the Roc D’Azur, a mass participation (5,000 riders in my event alone) mountain bike event in 2015 and plan to ride the Roc des Alpes in 2016.
I’ve raced for several teams in the past including Singletrack Bikes, Climb on Bikes RT, RT Racing and Team Noahs Ark. During spells with these teams I’ve helped out on demo and open days, marshalled road races and even gone litter picking after an event!
I’m very excited to be joining Cotswold Cycles RT and riding with Iain in Grand Vet classes. I’m not so excited about training with Marc, but I’m prepared to suffer the pain to be in such good company!
